The e-Science Institute (eSI) aims to continue running a balanced and responsive programme which meets the needs of all research groups in the e-Science community. We wish the different branches of research activity to balance between tutorial provision, workshops and research meetings. There is no possibility that we can meet these goals without your suggestions.

Please send initial suggestions to the Deputy Director anna@nesc.ac.uk. They must explain how the proposal will benefit the UK e-Science community which is our primary concern.

Ideally we would like people to engage with us as co-organisers jointly developing an event, or to develop an event in conjunction with our conference administrator.

Please note we do not normally run events during the month of August. This is due to the lack of accommodation available as a result of the Edinburgh International Festival.

Organising an e-Science Meeting at eSI

What eSI provides :

The premises: We do not charge for these where there is no conference charge to delegates.

Admin staff: Will arrange room bookings, catering, accommodation (we get reduced rates at a number of nearby hotels) and administer our on-line registration process etc. We always prefer to use our own registration mechanism as it was specifically designed to simplify the administration of events.

Computing support staff: Will provide technical support for videoconferencing, AccessGrid, configuring the training lab, renting necessary equipment and support for the Internet Cafe, WirelessLAN etc.

What we pay for:

In normal circumstances we will pay for the travel (national or international) and accommodation expenses for 2 to 3 speakers a day, depending on level of involvement with the event and the size of the event.

Note that we do not normally cover the expenses of delegates.
